Working with the programming station without administrator rights

NC FAQ1076

Question:

A user can only use the iTNC 530 programming station correctly if he has write permission for all files and directories beneath the installation directory. This is the case if the user is at least logged on as a local administrator, or if the installation directory is copied to a location where even a simple user has read- and write-access rights.

Answer:

After installing the programming station, copy the installation directory with the name “iTNC530” (C:\Program Files\iTNC530) and paste this copy in a directory that you create. The user should have read- and write-access to this directory.

CAUTION!

This copy procedure must be performed before the programming station is started the first time, otherwise problems can occur.

The target directory, as well as the entire path, must not contain any blank spaces. Open the new installation directory and create a shortcut to the itncstart.bat file. You can then move this shortcut to the Desktop, and then start the programming station from the new directory even without any administrator rights.
