Basic rotation soft key is not displayed

Question:

I’m working on a 5-axis machine, and sometimes the soft key for basic rotation is not shown. Why?

Answer:

Once you have activated the 3D ROT function in the Manual mode, you cannot define an additional basic rotation. Therefore, the TNC hides the soft key for defining the basic rotation.

However, you can use the two functions in the reverse order:

First activate the basic rotation and then 3D ROT. The TNC then tilts the machining based on the coordinate system already rotated with the basic rotation.

If you must perform a rotation in a tilted working plane, use Cycle 10 Rotation.
